ANGELICA PANGANIBAN TO TERRIFY AUDIENCES AS THE WHITE LADY !

She played a sinner who could heal the faithful in the acclaimed “Santa Santita”. She made us feel the pain of being heartbroken in “Mano Po 3: My Love”. And just recently, she was the victim of a cellphone sex video scandal in “All About Love.”

Hard to believe, but all these roles are the creations of a young woman who first captivated us as a sweet, expressive child star in “Separada,” which won her a Best Child Performer trophy in 1995. Now 20 years young, ANGELICA PANGANIBAN is one of the top young actresses working in both TV and the movies.

In her latest role, she stars as an iconic character who has been making Filipinos shudder for many decades. This, of course, is the terrifying “White Lady,” a supernatural apparition who has been associated with Balete Drive and countless other places in the Philippines. Whether the White Lady is an urban legend or a myth, what can’t be denied is that every Filipino has heard of her, and she’s always whispered about when groups of people, especially students, tell each other ghost stories.

List most Filipinos, Angelica Panganiban has heard quite a few stories about the White Lady. One is even said to roam the extensive grounds of ABS-CBN, Angelica’s home studio. The enduring nature of the White Lady was one reason Angelica took on the challenge of playing her in Regal Entertainment’s all-new reinvention of the famous ghost.

“Being asked to play the White Lady is almost like being asked to play Darna,” says the lovely Angelica. “Every Filipino has heard of her, and I was excited and challenged to play this famous, frightening character. And when tita Roselle Monteverde-Teo (Regal Films producer) told me the story, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. We humanized the White Lady and gave her an intriguing back story and a believable motivation to do what she does in the film.”

Regal Entertainment’s re-imagining of the “White Lady” tale doesn’t take place in Balete Drive in New Manila. The movie is set in a tranquil, Liberal Arts school in Los Baños, Laguna. Peace on campus, however, is shattered when sightings of the White Lady become more frequent one schoolyear. Not only that, the apparitions is even accompanied by horrifying accidents and even deaths.

For her part, Angelica had to endure two hours of tedious prosthetic makeup application everyday to bring her character of Christina to life. But she says it was worth it because Christina’s look guided and dictated Angelica’s approach to playing her. “Christina is not just an angry ghost killing those who have wronged her,” says Angelica. “She’s also a victim of cruelty at the hands of her peers. I’m sure that many people, especially teenagers and those who feel like they aren’t part of the ‘in’ crowd, will sympathize with her.”

Playing the other students in White Lady are some of the newest, most talented and brightest stars of the new generation: PAULEEN LUNA, JC DE VERA, KETCHUP EUSEBIO, IWA MOTO, GLAIZA DE CASTRO, KATARINA PEREZ, JASON ABALOS, and FRANZEN FAJARDO.

“White Lady” will begin haunting cinemas nationwide on July 19. Directed by first-time feature filmmaker Jeff Tan, “White Lady” is produced by Roselle Monteverde-Teo. Manny Valera is the supervising producer of the Regal Entertainment presentation, which is executive produced by Lily Monteverde. Don’t see it alone!!
