YOU’LL TURN WHITE WITH FRIGHT
WHEN YOU SEE REGAL’S WHITE LADY!
 |
Like the sense of mounting dread one feels upon entering a haunted house, interest and fascination for the new motion picture “White Lady” is growing by the minute! Thanks to an eerie, heart-stopping trailer and the public’s never-ending fascination with the mysterious female apparition, Regal Entertainment’s “White Lady” is sure to be a monumental crowd-drawer, another surefire hit from the studio that practically invented the Pinoy horror flick. |
“White Lady definitely upholds the tradition of Regal’s horror hits,” promises producer Roselle Monteverde-Teo. “It might even be scarier than our own Shake Rattle& Roll films because White Lady is based on the sightings and experiences of countless Filipinos. Horror movies are always scarier when they’re based on reality. Pamahiin was a big hit because it was inspired by superstitions that are very real to many Filipinos. In the same way, the White Lady is also very real to those who’ve experienced her and those who know about her from what they’ve read and seen on TV.”
The filmmakers, however, emphasize that their all-new movie isn’t documentary in style, but rather, an exciting, cinematic ghost story that will thrill viewers of all ages. “Our White Lady isn’t an all souls’ day special,” says scriptwriter Don Michael Perez. “It’s a scary narrative based on the best stories we’ve heard about teenagers who have encountered her.”
Playing the students at the seemingly peaceful liberal arts campus in Los Baños, Laguna are the most talented and good-looking stars of tinseltown. JC de Vera plays a handsome teen who is romantically torn between schoolmate Pauleen Luna and the undead Angelica Panganiban, who plays the vengeful title role. Playing the classmates who incur her wrath are Gian Carlos, Iwa Moto, Ketchup Eusebio, Glaiza de Castro, Katarina Perez and Jason Abalos.
Executive Producer Lily Monteverde promises audiences a haunting movie experience they won’t soon forget. “You can see from the trailer that White Lady is a first-class production from top to bottom,” says the Regal matriarch with justifiable pride. “The cast is star-studded and the special effects are top-notch. There are so many things in this movie that viewers have never seen before. We’re also very excited about our new director, Jeff Tan, who brings a new level of perfectionism to his craft.”
Producer Roselle Monteverde-Teo agrees. “Though it was sometimes tough on our cast to do more than 20 takes for certain shots, the end result more than justified everyone’s hard work. We gave Jeff Tan the assignment to direct ‘White Lady’ precisely because he is a perfectionist, and that he would bring an exciting new vision to the horror movie genre,” reveals Roselle. “There were many times when Jeff would even operate the camera himself…he’s that dedicated to his work. And his skill at his craft is visible in every frame of the movie.”
With such dedication in front of and behind the cameras, “White Lady” is sure to scare up terrifyingly good business when it opens nationwide on July 19.
