Regal Entertainment’s “White Lady”
grosses 5.8M on opening day

Regal Entertainment’s horror flick “White Lady,” grossed about 5.8 million on opening day July 19, which makes it the fourth consecutive blockbuster that Regal has produced this year. “White Lady” follows in the success achieved by “Manay Po,” “Pamahiin,” and “I Will Always Love You.”

Director Jeff Tan’s debut film is a hit with all viewers, especially among the teen crowd who are fans of stars Angelica Panganiban, Pauleen Luna, JC de Vera, Glaiza de Castro, Katarina Perez, Ketchup Eusebio, Jason Abalos, Gian Carlos and Iwa Moto. The response at the premiere was a preview of the box-office performance as the SRO audience screamed in fright when the Whtie Lady would suddenly appear and at the other surprising twists and frightening sequences. The meticulous work, attention to detail, and perfectionism of Direk Jeff and the dedication of the stars and the hard work of the staff were greatly appreciated.

The story about how a coed gets back at the campus bullies was successfully conveyed, thanks to performances of the stars from opposing TV networks that gelled very well and were completely at home with their characters. Iwa was exceptionally credible as a kontrabida. The chemistry between Pauleen and JC was so palpable on screen, although the two claim that they are no longer sweethearts.

Angelica was luminous and stellar in her role as the White Lady, proving once again that she is one of the biggest stars among her contemporaries. Showbiz observers declare “White Lady” is a clear indication of a very exciting career for the former child star-turned-screen ingénue.

Regal Entertainment executive producer Mother Lily Monteverde is very pleased with this project of Direk Jeff that she is offering him a new one – this time a love story starring Angelica. Direk Jeff will have some time to conceptualize the story and the other details of his first romantic movie as he is flying soon to the US for a well-deserved vacation.

“White Lady” was rated B by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB). It is Regal’s third Rated B film for the year, after “Pamahiiin” and “I Will Always Love You.” It is showing in theaters nationwide.

Not one to rest on its laurels, Regal Entertainment is already gearing up for the showing of the epic romance “Eternity,” another potential blockbuster starring the country’s two favorite love teams of Iza Calzado and Dingdong Dantes, and Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras. “Eternity” is scheduled for an August 30 playdate.
